Greetings. My name is Roy Davis, and I welcome you to this Website. It has been a work of Love for over 6 years. At this time, many things have happened. It is now October, 2001; We've survived Y2K (My neighbors were curious about the 78 gallons of water I was spilling out of jugs on January 5th, 2000). We have experienced terror in our country with the destruction of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001. And we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Our Lord Jesus literally any day now.
I won't bore you with a lot of biographical information about me. Suffice to say that I am Born-again; I'm what I call a "Bapticostal" - Baptist doctrine - Pentecostal spirit. I believe the Bible to be the Literal, true and complete Word of God. Nothing Added - Nothing Taken Away.
I'm 59 years old, was raised in a "Christian" home; by that I mean, my folks belonged and went to the Christian Church for as far back as I can remember. I was baptized into this denomination at about age seven, but I really never knew what it meant to be "saved" until I met my sweet wife, Cindy, who had been saved since she was about seven.
I played professional music in Indianapolis, and while living in Chicago for about four year with my first wife. That marriage ended in an amiable divorce, primarily brought on by my inability to be completely faithful to her. Playing in bars and taverns for years brings about a great deal of temptation, which I fell in to many times.
During this first marriage, I had joined the Mormon Church, which is of course, a cult. I was caught up in the belief that they had answers to all the questions. And in fact, they DO have answers to all the questions. Only problem, they're the WRONG answers.
After my divorce, and subsequent marriage to Cindy, we ended up attending a Baptist Church on the East side of Indy, I got saved, eventually gave up playing music in the bars, and have remained "saved" ever since. Oh yeah, I'm one of the strange Christians that beliefs once God gives you something, He never takes it back. (See my article "Salvation - Here Today, Gone Tomorrow???")
I've spent most of my life, when not playing music, in one type of sales or another. We moved to Florida in 1980 or thereabouts, moved back to Indy twelve years later. I found myself tired of sales, so I went to work for a delivery-courier company.
The big advantage to driving around making deliveries all day, is that I have a perfect opportunity to listen to the radio. I have a tape player, and listening to blues and jazz was how I passed the time while driving.
Soon I started dividing my time between listening to Gospel music, and listening to Bible Teachers on the radio, Chuck Smith, Charles Swindoll, David Jeremiah, and others. All great Bible Preachers, all had good messages. But there was one program that really got my attention: The Christian Jew Hour (which has since changed it's name to "Messianic Perspectives"), out of San Antonio, Texas.
The Christian Jew Foundation, the parent organization, was founded and was headed up by Dr. Charles Halff, a born-again Jew, and it's president is Gary Hedrick. Dr. Halff went to be with the Lord a couple of years ago. I had listened to this broadcast years ago, but had little interest in it because of my lack of love and understanding of the Jews. It just wasn't a big deal.
But now something was different. The first broadcast I heard this time around, was one by Gary entitled "One World Getting Ready For Two Men". I discovered that this was a series on prophecy, an area that I have always had in interest in, since reading many books by Hal Lindsey and others over the years. I certainly wasn't an expert, and I had many questions regarding the Book of Revelation, Daniel, and other aspects of prophecy, but this series by Gary cleared up in my mind a lot of these questions.
The main point that he kept driving home was: God is NOT finished with Israel. God has a plan for His chosen people. After listening a few times to this broadcast, I decided to get some more information, and wrote the organization for literature, and also asking a couple of questions regarding some things I had read and heard. Much to my surprise, one evening while watching television, I received a phone call from Dr. Halff himself. Now, I had written many radio preachers, and only one or two even bothered to reply. Mostly what I got was requests for more money.
Dr. Halff took about thirty-five to forty minutes talking with me, answering questions, and thanking me for my support. I thought, Man, if he does this for everyone that asks him a question, he must have one huge phone bill.
To make a long story short, The Holy Spirit prodded me into desiring more information on the Jews and Israel. So I sent away for many of their books and tapes, all by the way, very reasonably priced. From the study of these books, and listening to the tapes, I have learned that we are, in fact, to love, and bless the Jews and Israel, and to Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. God blesses those who bless His people, and WILL curse those who curse His people. And I must admit, God has blessed us richly since becoming more involved with this ministry.
The Christian Jew Foundation has a fine Website, and I have gleaned much from the messages and helps that are available on this website.
I have talked many times with Mr. Hedrick via E-mail, and thank God that He has given me an opportunity to become involved with the CJF.
They support 24 missionaries, (at last count); they have an excellent Newsletter that goes out monthly with many excellent articles regarding Israel and the Jews, and get great pleasure listening to the tapes I have received while driving two hundred miles a day making my deliveries. And not once have I received a letter pleading for more money. But I have received many letters, not post cards, but letters, thanking me for my support, meager as it has been.
This Website is dedicated to informing, educating, and motivating Christians to love, bless, and pray for Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews. Christians, as a whole (the real Church, not the "professing", but the "Confessing") has little knowledge, and sadly, little love for the Jew. As Mr. Hedrick so aptly put it in one of his tapes, Israel's biggest enemy today is not the Arabs; is not Islam and the terrorists; it's APATHY. Many people just don't care. Not because they don't want to, but because most are not aware that WE ARE SUPPOSED TO CARE!
I know that not everyone who reads this article will agree. I know that there is a great movement today, and belief, that the Church has "replaced" Israel concerning all her promises and covenants God made with her. Nothing could be farther from the truth. God has "set aside" His dealings with Israel to bring in the Church Age, but He definitely is not finished with Israel. After all, JESUS was A JEW; the early Church was JEWISH; we owe the Jews more than we can ever pay. They preserved the Scriptures, often under severe persecution and threat of death. They were made to "accept Christianity" upon threat of torture, exile, and death by the Roman Church. The fact that they are a Nation today, after 2,000 years in exile and dispersion, is a miracle in itself.
There are other articles not directly relating to the Jew, articles I feel might be of help in understanding things Biblical. I have tried to keep an open and non-dogmatic mind in writing them. I know that not everyone will agree with everything I have to say, but hey....it's my Website!
I welcome your comments, suggestions, questions, and even criticisms. I didn't put this thing together to argue pointlessly, but welcome serious discussions from anyone, even those who disagree.
And even though we may not agree on every doctrinal belief, we can still fellowship and love one another. It's time for the Church to put away their silly differences, and come together as a body of believers, striving to save the lost with the help of the Holy Spirit.
I am available to visit Churches in and around Indianapolis to present a message regarding the Jews, Israel, and Bible Prophecy. I will come to any Bible-believing Church, regardless of denomination, as long as you love the Lord, and want to know His plan for Israel. I have an awesome Digital Piano that I use for revivals, Jamborees, and evangelistic meetings. I love the old Southern Gospel songs, Gaither type music, some contemporary but no rock.
If you live in the Indianapolis area, my son, Greg and I have a half-hour program on WBRI Radio, 1500 on the AM dial every Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. This program is dedicated to teaching about the Jews, Israel, Islam, and Bible Prophecy. Once in awhile, I even throw in a song or two.
